Elvira Misbakhova
Elvira Misbakhova received her Ph.D. in music performance from the University of Montreal in 2005. She was the recipient of a FRQSC award, as well as the faculty’s prestigious FESP bursary of excellence. Ms. Misbakhova began her violin training at the age of seven in her native Tatarstan, Russia. She then attended the Kazan State Conservatory, where she was assistant principal violist for the La Primavera Chamber Orchestra. In 1999, she arrived in Montreal to study with Eleonora Turovsky, becoming principal violist for the Orchestre Symphonique de l’Université de Montreal, and was the winner of the orchestra’s concerto competition.Serhiy Salov
Born into the exceptional pianistic tradition of the Ukraine, Serhiy Salov also draws on substantial periods of study in both composition and musicology. Indeed, it was his own arrangement for solo piano of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring that led Gramophone to state that “Serhiy Salov makes Stravinsky’s masterpiece his own”. The magazine praised his “glittering technique, meticulous balancing of chords and precise articulation of rapid-fire figurations” as well as his “splendid ear for nuance” and the “unruffled tonal sheen” in a “remarkable tour de force”.Alina Ichmouratov
Alina Ichmouratov was born in Montreal to Russian Tatar parents. She started writing poetry at a young age and entered her first school slam contest at the age of 13. From there, she got the chance to participate in numerous concerts with klezmer band Kleztory, and with local orchestras where she recited classical French and English poetry, as well as her own compositions. In recent years, she has had the opportunity to perform with the trio Con Moto, with the Orchestre Nouvelle-Génération, with Allegra Chamber Music, and with I Musici de Montréal. In 2021, Alina performed her own composition in the Gala des Futures Étoiles organized by the Fondation Place des Arts. In 2023, she interpreted Shakespeare’s monologues in the context of Elvira Misbakhova’s concert Destins Tragiques. Alina is presently enrolled in the Professional Theatre Program at Dawson College, where she continues to write poetry.Thank you to Marie-Christine Tremblay and Jacques Marchand for making this concert possible.
