      Principal Cello of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal since 1999, Brian Manker enjoys a diverse and varied musical career as a performer and a teacher. In addition to being a frequent concerto soloist with the OSM, Mr. Manker is also a member of the Juno and Opus award winning New Orford String Quartet.

      Currently a faculty member of McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, Mr. Manker launched the Beethoven Project and founded the Adorno Quartet in 2007, the purpose of which is to perform all of Beethoven’s quartets in their proper context: the private salon. In 2010, he recorded the complete Bach Cello Suites.


      During your stay at Orford Music, you will create unforgettable memories while evolving into the artist you aspire to be. Orford Music’s master classes are unique opportunities to work on your goals with the mentors of your choice.

      The master classes include the following:

      • Master classes, individual lessons or technical courses lasting 2.5 hours per week
      • Opportunity to perform in student concerts
      • Access to a collaborative pianist
      • Networking activities with faculty members and the student community
      • Accommodation in double occupancy and three meals per day.
      • Practice studios equipped with pianos (available from 7AM to 12AM)
      • Housekeeping, laundry facilities, parking, and free Wi-Fi
      • Free tickets for concerts at Salle Gilles-Lefebvre (subject to availability)
      • Opportunity to discover the beautiful landscapes of Parc national du Mont-Orford, the majestic Lake Memphremagog, and the tourist activities of the city of Magog
      • Rehearsal studios equipped with pianos (available from 6AM to 11PM)
